OSSA Basic Safety Orientation

All workers who intend to work at any of the OSSA member sites must at a minimum have the OSSA Basic Safety Orientation effective July 1, 2015.

NOTE: This is for workers who do not have the current ORO and CSTS combination.

Course Description

The OSSA Basic Safety Orientation (BSO) will be the pre-site access requirement for all new contract workers at participating OSSA member work sites effective July 1, 2015. PLEASE NOTE: This training requirement applies only to NEW workers. If you already have proof of ORO and CSTS certification, you will continue to have site access.

OSSA Basic Safety Orientation is approx. 4.5 hours in duration. It is an instructor led course and is intended to replace the current OSSA Regional Orientation (ORO) and CSTS-09 programs as pre-site access requirements for the four OSSA member sites.

Upon completion of the OSSA Basic Safety Orientation Program a worker will be able to present their credential to any of the Oil Sands Safety Association Owner Member sites (Albian Sands Energy Inc., Canadian Natural Resources Ltd., Suncor Energy Inc., and Syncrude Canada Ltd.) as proof of completing the required pre-site access orientation.

Note: As per OSSA, this course cannot be delivered online.

Learning Objectives

The learning objective of the OSSA Basic Safety Orientation (BSO) is to provide participants with a general awareness of critical safety initiatives found at participating OSSA Member work sites.

Participants will be required to achieve 80% on the quiz in order to receive a credential card.
